Land Acknowledgment
We seek to right the injustice of the erasure of the Indigenous people who originally inhabited these lands by honoring their history and traditions. This land was stewarded by the Arapaho, Apache, Cheyenne, Sioux, and Ute Nations. S.A.C.R.Ed Eco-Center recognizes the enduring relationships between many Indigenous peoples and their traditional homelands. We are grateful for the territory upon which we gather today and respect the original stewards of this land. May we continue to do the work to bring justice, healing, education, and sustainable relationships to be embodied through S.A.C.R.Ed Eco-Center’s mission, vision, and purpose.

Life & Community
Benu Amun-Ra is the daughter of a Black Vietnam veteran and a South Korean immigrant with familial history embedded in the trauma of slavery. We have been an advocate for BIPOC, LGBTQ+ and people living with disabilities since 2015. Benu is also a generational farmer and seed keeper. We have worked with organizations that center on food access and mental health resources as these have been the two most dire issues and primary challenges for marginalized communities. We have worked in advocacy with organizations like Hunger Free Colorado, Colorado Department of Human Services, Colorado Health Foundation, National Young Farmers Coalition and Association of Black Psychologists.
Benu believes in the power of story. Her background in multimedia and production secured her a B.A. in Convergent Journalism from Metropolitan State University of Denver. She knows that words can empower or destroy and can change the world. Sharing lived experiences passes on the tradition of knowledge systems that have existed for thousands of years and is the key to building community which in kind strengthens healing, relationships, and culture. Her podcast, The Green Path, was the seed to implement the need for an advocacy program to ensure those stories that have been suppressed had a platform to be heard and seen.
